Got Milk!
If you think a mother’s breast milk is only used to feed her children then think again, because you are wrong.
Daniel Angerer, the chef of Klee Brasserie in NYC told a local NY reporter that he uses his wife’s breast milk in many of his dishes.
Angerer said the milk, which is mostly used to make cheeses, does not curdle because of its low protein content and it “tastes like cow’s milk, kind of sweet.”
The chef said after blogging about adding the human milk to his chesses, customers started demanding a sample.
“The phone was ringing off the hook. So I prepared a little canapé of breast-milk cheese with figs and Hungarian pepper,” the chef told the reporter.
But not all of Angerer’s customers are happy about his secret ingredient. The chef’s wife, Lori Mason said most of the criticism has to do with “the combination of sex and cheese, but…the breast is there to make food,”
She said since her husband started offering customers a taste of her milk she has been inundated with creepy queries. The mother of 10 weeks-old Arabella said she receives email from people saying they would like to try her breast milk since they were not breast-fed as a child.
A spokesperson for the department of health says even though department codes do not explicitly forbid the practice, they have advised Angerer to refrain from sharing his wife’s milk.
I wonder whose milk Angerer is planning to use when his wife is not longer breast feeding.
